Kaara L. Koplowitz

Kaara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Central Connecticut State University and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University. Prior to her work with GEAR UP, Kaara has acted in the roles of Student Services Manager, Summer Programs and Special Projects Manager, and Director of College and Career Office Operations. Kaara is passionate about providing opportunities and resources to students and families as they navigate their way through high school and beyond.

Fun fact: Kaara tries to read at least 100 books a year

Juliana Servetnick

Social Emotional Learning Coordinator

Juliana (she/her) is GEAR UP Meriden's Social Emotional Learning Coordinator. Juliana's background is in community mental health, and she will be done with her Master's of Social Work in the Spring of 2024. She is passionate about bringing Social Emotional Learning into college and career readiness.

Fun fact: Juliana originally went to college to be an actor!

Kaleigh received her undergraduate degree from the University of New Haven and her Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Salem State University. Education access is something she is passionate about, which is what drew her to work for Gear Up.

Fun fact: Kaleigh graduated from Maloney High School, where she is now the Site Coordinator!

Molly Westfall

Miss Westfall earned her Bachelor's Degree from CCSU in 2015, becoming the first in her family to navigate the college process and graduate. She is excited to provide GEAR UP services to students because early awareness and preparation are crucial to students pursuing post-secondary education, especially first-generation students. Miss Westfall has been a tap dancer for 28 years, when she is not at Platt she can be found teaching dance lessons!

Evan McKinnon

Evan received his undergraduate degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Having discovered a passion for being in the classroom and supporting students, Evan will begin his graduate degree in education this year at the University of Saint Joseph. In his free time, Evan can be found coaching the Platt freshman boys’ basketball team.
